High Holy Days

Rosh Hashanah at Temple Sinai

Erev Rosh Hashanah services take place at 8:00 p.m.

On Rosh Hashanah day, there are multiple services

  • Early service at 9:00 a.m.
  • Junior congregation at 9:00 a.m., concurrent with the Early service
  • Late service at 12:30 p.m.
  • Tot Rosh Hashanah service geared towards pre-school aged children at 3:30 p.m.

On the second day of Rosh Hashanah, there are two services

  • A musical service geared towards adults and teens at 10:30 a.m.
  • A second family service for children in elementary school and their families at 11:00 a.m.
  • The music service for adults takes place in the sanctuary and the family service is in Founders’ Hall.  Both services run concurrently and end at approximately the same time so that everyone can join together for an oneg and Tashlich at the Demarest Duck Pond.

Yom Kippur at Temple Sinai

Kol Nidre services take place at 8:00 p.m.

On Yom Kippur, services continue through the day as follows

  • Early service at 8:45 a.m.
  • Junior congregation at 8:45 a.m., concurrent with the Early service
  • Late service at 11:30 a.m. (followed by Yizkor)
  • Tot Yom Kippur service geared towards pre-school aged children at 2:45 p.m.
  • On Yom Kippur, it is customary to stay in Temple all day.  To provide a spiritual activity for adults during the time when Tot Yom Kippur services are taking place in the sanctuary, a discussion on a High Holy Day theme will take place in Founders’ Hall.
  • Music & Meditation at 3:30 p.m.
  • Afternoon (mincha) service starting at 4:00 pm which is immediately followed  by Yizkor and then Ne’ilah, the beautiful concluding service. We hope that you will attend both and invite you to join us at the Temple’s Break the Fast sponsored by our Sisterhood.
