Erev Shabbat

rabbi-and-sara-candle-lightAt Temple Sinai, we recognize the opportunity to create a sense of Shabbat togetherness and peace within each family and our larger community each week. Variations on our Shabbat observances create pathways of discovery for your Jewish journey. Led by Rabbi Millstein and Cantor Nitza, you will find our service to be accessible to all, participatory, and meaningful.

Please be sure to consult the home page for the most current information on our Shabbat service schedule.

Shabbat Evening Worship, Friday 7:30 p.m.

Our Friday evening main sanctuary service is at 7:30 p.m. except on the third Friday of each month when Shabbat evening services are at 8:00 p.m.

Our second Friday of each month is a musical Shabbat.  Our regular accompanist is joined by a drummer and additional instrumentalists that make the service a fun, joyful musical happening. It is a sing-along experience that lasts about an hour. This multi-generational service is well-suited for the entire congregation.

Please be sure to consult the home page for the most current information and note the following:

  • Festivals or other holidays may impact the schedule
  • During the summer, there are special earlier start times for Shabbat Evening services. During July and August, there is a pre-worship oneg at 6:00 p.m. followed by services at 6:30 p.m.

Tot Shabbat, first Friday each month at 6:00 p.m.

This Shabbat service for infants, toddlers and children through age 5 as well as their siblings, parents and grandparents is followed by dinner, enabling us to experience Shabbat with family and friends. Many in our Temple family have warm memories of experiencing Shabbat and we hope to create similar experiences and memories with your young children.

Family Shabbat, third Friday each month at 6:00 p.m.

Join us for this monthly service geared towards graduates of our Tot Shabbat program and all children in grades K through 3, along with their parents and grandparents. The Family Shabbat service is followed by dinner, enabling all to experience Shabbat with family and friends.
