Consider camp a learning experience. This is an opportunity for your child to discover a world beyond home. It is a chance to practice “letting-go,” allowing children to develop autonomy, and a strong sense of self, to make new friends, take responsibility, problem solve, and more.
Importantly, Reform Jewish camps are an incubator for the future of North American Judaism. Children who attend Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) camps are more likely to remain engaged with Judaism throughout their lives, and URJ Camps camps provide a peer group that greatly increases the likeliness of campers making Jewish choices on a daily basis.
URJ Camp Harlam

Nestled in the foothills of the magnificent Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, Camp Harlam provides the finest in recreational and educational activities for Reform Jewish youth. Established in 1958, Camp Harlam has developed a strong tradition of success and excellence based on a highly skilled staff dedicated to the spiritual, physical, social and psychological well-being of each child.
Camp Joseph and Betty Harlam is one of thirteen Union for Reform Judaism camps around the country. We opened in 1958 as a small camp whose primary benefactors were Joseph and Betty Harlam of Hazelton, PA. Since that time, Harlam has grown to its present size with a 300-acre facility, a population of approximately 550 campers each session, and a staff of over 225 during the summer.
The Camp Harlam family consists of smaller communities within junior camp, senior camp, and the Machon (Counselor in Training) program. Junior and senior camps are further broken down into units based on a child's school grade to create a more intimate and age-appropriate experience for our campers.
URJ Crane Lake Camp
Since 1998, when Crane Lake Camp joined the URJ family of resident camps, youngsters from the URJ's Northeast, Greater New York, and New Jersey-West Hudson Valley regions have come to our home in West Stockbridge, MA to experience the transformative power of Jewish camping.
Our caring and committed staff members (many of whom were campers themselves) strive to enrich the campers' experiences by helping them build lasting friendships. These relationships lay the foundation for our summer community, providing encouragement and support. Our intimate camp environment allows campers to embrace the challenge of learning new skills in athletics, aquatics, the arts, and adventure and nature programs. What's more, campers also immerse themselves in a wide range of innovative Jewish educational pursuits and creative spiritual experiences.
From the youngest of our campers to the oldest of our Machon (Counselors-in-Training), every child who spends a summer at Crane Lake Camp returns home a little wiser, a little more self-confident, and a little more connected to the Jewish community. A summer at Crane Lake Camp is more than a summer of fun. A summer at Crane Lake is meant to last a lifetime.
URJ Eisner Camp
Since 1958, URJ Eisner Camp has come to embody the transformative power of Jewish camping. Youngsters from URJ congregations across the northeastern United States join together each summer to have fun while experiencing the magic of this special community.
